- 1 tuna steak
- ½ teaspoon of wasabi or wasabi paste
- 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
- ½ teaspoon of fresh ginger, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon of capers, finely chopped
- ½ teaspoon of lemon juice
- 1 drop (literally!) of sesame oil
- 2 tomatoes
- ½ red bell pepper
- ½ green bell pepper
- ½ cucumber
- ¼ red onion
- Salt, to taste
- Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO)
- Red wine vinegar, to taste
Recipe Directions
- Pound all marinade ingredients in a mortar until it forms a paste.
- Thoroughly pat dry the tuna steak and brush all sides with the marinade.
- Vacuum seal and refrigerate for 2 hours. If you don’t have a vacuum sealer, place the tuna in a Ziploc bag and refrigerate overnight.
- Remove the marinated tuna steak from the bag and pat dry any excess moisture.
- Heat your Flavortown Laser Titanium pan to maximum heat.
- Add avocado oil or vegetable oil (NOT EVOO).
- Sear each side of the tuna steak for 20-30 seconds until golden brown or even charred.
- Dice all salad ingredients. Dress with EVOO, salt, and red wine vinegar.
- Arrange the salad on a plate as a bed and place the tataki slices on top.
