Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich with Spicy Hot Slaw & Pickles Recipe

Recipe Ingredients

  • 4 boneless chicken thighs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tbsp Flavortown Chicken Rub
  • Oil for frying
  • 4 brioche buns
  • Dill pickle spears

Recipe Ingredients for Hot Oil BBQ Glaze

  • ½ cup frying oil
  • ½ cup Flavortown Fiery BBQ Sauce
  • 1 tbsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

Recipe for Hot Slaw

  • 1 green cabbage, sliced
  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, julienned
  • 2 jalapeños, sliced
  • 3 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Flavortown Hot Sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Recipe Directions

    1. Marinate chicken thighs in buttermilk and hot sauce for 1 hour.
    2. Mix flour with Flavortown Chicken Rub. Dredge chicken and fry until golden.
    3. In ceramic pan, whisk hot oil, Fiery BBQ Sauce, cayenne, paprika, and sugar. Brush over chicken.
    4. For hot slaw: sauté onion, pepper, and jalapeño in butter. Add cabbage, vinegar, Flavortown Hot Sauce, sugar, and spices. Cook until wilted but still vibrant.
    5. Build sandwich with brioche bun, hot chicken, hot slaw, and pickles.
